When I first brought the TV home and plugged it in I connected the Mac Mini to the TV via the DVIVGA adapter, VGA cable to the TV. The TV Instantly recognized the mini and it displayed perfectly.
Top comment ' It works great when using Mac.What I mean by that is this: After doing research on wireless keyboards that would fit my unique needs (Windows compatibility was a must, Mac compatibility would be great, and if it was Bluetooth and could link with my iPad 2 then I was sold) I fell in love with the look of this particular keyboard and I also loved that it was solar powered. I will connect all of the cables, turn on the Mac Mini, and the gray apple logo will appear briefly and then the screen goes black and the TV displays the error 'Invalid Format'. I've tried booting the computer before plugging in the monitor, same result. I've tried booting into safe mode and not even the gray apple logo is displayed.
The only glimmer of success that I have had is by moving my LCD Monitor to the living room, setting the resolution to 1024x768 @60z, and then hot-swapping the cables and connecting the TV. When I do this I am able to view the display on the TV at 1024x768 but the options for the other resolutions have disappeared. When I click 'Detect Displays' or when I put the computer to sleep and wake it up, the display goes to black and I get the 'Invalid Format' error again.
Unfortunately, I do not have another computer on hand to remote desktop into the Mac Mini and change the display settings while connected to the LG. I need to figure out a way to get the Mac Mini to display on the LG TV correctly each and every time I connect it. I don't know if I would have better results with a DVI>HDMI cable, but I refuse to purchase another cable because I know that this setup can work because it worked just fine the first time.
